![]() Greenwood Delaware, population 680, is a small town on U.S. 13 in western Sussex County named after the holly forest surrounding it. Founded in 1856, chartered in 1858, and incorporated in 1901, Greenwood consisted of only eight houses, two stores and a hotel shortly after the Civil War. It has grown some since then, but still maintains a small village atmosphere. The town government consists of a town council with a president and four council members, a town manager, and a police chief.
